An Allakaket man is accused of stealing $1,000 from the town’s store and then losing the money at blackjack.

Trevor Williams, 19, has been charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree theft.

Witnesses say Williams was with several youngsters between the ages of 13 and 19 Sunday morning at the home of the store’s owners when he went into the room where the owners were sleeping and took the keys to the store, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.

He then allegedly went to the store and stole about $1,000 worth of tobacco, candy and soda.

He then allegedly located the cash box back at the home and took $1,000, giving some of it to the other teens with him to keep quiet or bet at blackjack.

Williams told troopers that he had lost all of the money at blackjack. Some of the tobacco was located in nearby woods.

Blackjack Cheater Sentenced To 6 Months in Jail

You really shouldnt cheat at blackjack, especially at church fundraisers. Check out this booboo head who decided it was ok to cheat God, and the blackjack players.

A sports bookie convicted of cheating at blackjack during a church festival has been dealt 6 months in jail by a central Ohio judge.

Sixty-eight-year-old Roland Chapa apologized in court on Wednesday and offered to ante up a $5,000 contribution for St. Timothy Catholic Church in Columbus as his punishment. But Franklin County Judge Richard Sheward decided to play the jail card instead, saying he didn’t think the law allowed the alternative sentence.

Chapa was accused of palming cards during the church fundraiser in July 2007. One witness said when Chapa stood to empty his pockets, a two of spades fell from his pants.

In June, a jury found him guilty of possessing criminal tools and cheating — a felony because Chapa had a previous gambling conviction.

The History of Blackjack

There is often debate about the history of blackjack and why it is such a popular game. In reality I believe it is because it is such an easy game to play and learn. Here is some more indepth analysis on the history of blackjack.

Blackjack originated from France during the 1700’s, which eventually made its way to the United States in the 1800’s. At first however, blackjack was not a popular card game compared to other popular card games of the time.

Roger Baldwin had published his strategy of the game blackjack in 1956. His theory stated that the game of blackjack can be easily won with some mathematical strategies applied to the game. Other ideas that Roger Baldwin was able to deploy in his paper were the use of statistics, calculators, and probability in the game of blackjack. His research paper was approximately ten pages long. Baldwin is best known for changing the way blackjack is played today.

Blackjack is a popular American casino game, now found throughout the world. It is a banking game in which the aim of the player is to achieve a hand whose points total nearer to 21 than the banker’s hand, but without exceeding 21.

In Nevada casinos the game is generally known 21 rather than Blackjack, and the holding of an ace with a 10-point card is called a “natural”.

Confusingly, the name Black Jack is used in Britain for an entirely different card game which is essentially the same as Crazy Eights.

The following outline explains the basic rules of standard blackjack (21), along with the house rules most commonly featured in casinos. Players should bear in mind, though, that blackjack rules vary from casino to casino, and check for local variations before playing.
